The shanghai city is a mixture of the new and the old. The city is now filed with buildings of modern architecture. The old buildings still exitsting. One of the famous temples is the Jade Buddha temple. The Fazangjiang temple too is very popular. There are many churches too which were built by European coalitionists.

Today shanghai is a highly dynamic city in one of the fastest growing nations in the world. The city has come a long way from its traditional background. The city is a mixture of the new and the old. In the olden days it was a play ground for foreigners and socialites but is a city of home grown tycoons. The glass towers co-exist with old traditional architecture of the Chinese dynasty. Today it is a really exiting city with an active night life. Shanghai promises to be a city where the Chinese people can live a capitalist dream.

Though it has transformed itself to a modern city at a very fast a pace, but it has still held on to its rich heritage and culture. Now one can see a confluence of both the Chinese as well as the western culture here. It is a city with mixed architectural styles of Europe and china. Now the western influence can be seen to a large extent with the emergence of tall skyscrapers and buildings. The people of the city are mainly Buddhist but Christianity too prevails here and dates back to the Ming Dynasty. One can see many churches in the city.
